PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

Join BJC West – Saint Lukes North Hospital – Barry Road Campus as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This 91-day travel assignment runs 3x12 nights, with a weekly pay of $2,212.53, starting September 28, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics in a fast-paced PCU environment. Your patient ratio is 1:5 across all shifts and weekends. You must maintain current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications and demonstrate proficiency in Epic charting.

Requirements and Qualifications

• RN degree required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; previous charge and teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers welcome
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility

Scheduling and Commitment

• 3x12 nights per week
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off
• Block scheduling not available
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed

Clinical Skills and Responsibilities

You will manage cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, administer blood products, perform central line and PICC line care, initiate peripheral lines and phlebotomy, administer IV insulin and heparin protocols, and titrate cardiac drips. You will provide BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and non-invasive airway support including tracheostomy care. You will manage chest tubes, CVA care, feeding tubes, pre- and post-hemodialysis care, and handle surgical drains and wound care including wound vacs. Additional responsibilities include peripheral nerve block catheter management, post-cardiac angiogram and post-MI care, and isolation precautions.

Floating and Flexibility

Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed, including Med-Surg, Telemetry, Medical-Intermediate units, and the Emergency Department for inpatient holding.
