NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 6 to 9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• Schedule is created by leadership for 6 weeks at a time; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
• Could be floated to a sister facility approximately 26 miles away if low census or staffing need arises
• Level 2 NICU with 6 beds and nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3
• Common diagnoses include hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, phototherapy, and pre-term infants learning to bottle feed and gain weight
• May care for infants experiencing withdrawal due to maternal drug use
• NICU RNs attend C-sections and vaginal deliveries with responsibilities focused solely on the baby
• May be asked to care for stable postpartum mothers and babies; training will be provided if needed
• Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required; prior travel experience preferred
• 1 to 3 shifts of orientation with a preceptor
• Charting system: EPIC
• Blue hospital scrubs provided
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
