ICU RN Job in Merced, CA

You will provide direct patient care in a 20-bed ICU at Mercy Medical Center Merced. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,143.

Schedule & Expectations

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week, starting at 7:00 PM
• Two weekends required per four-week period
• Holidays worked as unit needs dictate
• If placed on standby, you must respond within 30 minutes; failure to be called in counts as a cancellation
• No block scheduling or scheduling requests accommodated; your travel assignment takes priority

Clinical Role & Responsibilities

• Maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in the ICU
• May be deployed to the Emergency Department to care for boarded ICU patients
• Float to telemetry, med-surg, and other floors with full patient loads of 4–5 patients; travelers are floated first
• Read and interpret your own telemetry strips using the GE system
• Manage ventilators with support from 24/7 in-house Respiratory Therapy
• Demonstrate strong IV skills; no IV team is available
• Implement the ABCDE bundle and manage sedation medications including Versed, Propofol, and Norepinephrine
• Work with common diagnoses including sepsis, DKA/hyperglycemia, pneumonia, COPD, PCI cardiac services, CVA, GI bleeds, and post-surgical ICU recovery

• Floor-specific orientation includes two shifts in the ICU and one shift on the assigned floor

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• CCRN and basic critical care course preferred
• BSN not required
