ICU Registered Nurse Job in San Francisco, CA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Sutter Health CPMC Van Ness Campus, based in San Francisco, CA. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 2, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12 hour shifts with rotating day and night hours: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities

Role Details

You'll float across three CPMC campuses—Van Ness, Mission Bernal, and Davies—located approximately 15 minutes apart with shuttle transport available. You'll be notified of your assigned campus location 2 hours before each shift. Float coverage includes ICU beds, Step Down units, ICU boarder roles in the ED, and medical-surgical telemetry floors as needed. Mid-shift floating is rare; you'll typically be assigned to one campus per shift.

Required Qualifications

• Current California RN License
• 4 years of ICU experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications

Required Clinical Skills

• Arterial line and central line management
• Mechanical ventilation and care of ventilated patients
• Blood product administration
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• CVVHD/CRRT therapy
• Continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade management
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Acute stroke and CVA management
• Traumatic brain injury care
• IV insulin protocols
• Arterial blood gas interpretation
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• ICP monitoring and external ventricular drain management
• PICC line management
• Phlebotomy and suctioning
• Isolation precautions and emergency medication administration
• Multisystem organ dysfunction and failure management

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,708.
