RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts starting at 6:45 AM with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays rotate in with core staff
• First to float; may float between SICU (Surgical ICU) and TICU (Trauma ICU) depending on census, as well as all other Sacramento facilities
• Mid-shift float to another facility is rare but can happen
• Self-scheduling used, finalized by manager; schedules posted 4 weeks out with ability to access remotely
• Overtime and extra shifts available
• Block scheduling is generally not available
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2; IABP and donor patients are 1:1
• Charting system: Cerner EMR
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips (telemetry required)
• Experience with ventilators required
• Charge nurse on unit; generally does not take patients but provides break relief
• Nurse aides available as safety attendants (sitters)
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy available 24/7
• SICU background experience needed with surgical patients including CEA, fem-pop, EVARs, laparotomies, and thoracic surgeries
• SICU common diagnoses include postop recoveries, primarily vascular, Fempops, VATs, thoracic, open belly surgeries, CRRT, ECMO, and line placements
• TICU common diagnoses include all trauma cases, CRRT, rapid infusers, and line insertions
• Interdisciplinary rounds conducted on every patient during day shifts
• Scrub color: Navy; under shirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional but must be navy
• 1 to 2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• TNCC preferred for TICU; trauma experience preferred
• Trauma Level 2 facility
• Acute care setting
• BSN not required
