PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. This 91-day travel assignment begins July 27, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,016.

Shift Details

• 3x12 shifts: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Blocked scheduling available upon request

Unit Overview

The 20-bed PCU serves adult patients with neurological conditions, including a 5-bed dedicated unit for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring. You will care for neurosurgical recovery patients, stroke management cases, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow. Patient ratio ranges from 1:4 to 1:5; you must be comfortable with a 1:5 ratio. Floating to other units within your clinical skillset is required.

Required Certifications and Experience

• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Previous charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers are accepted

Clinical Competencies

You will perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, manage rapid response and code team participation, administer IV therapy and phlebotomy, manage blood product administration, and provide central and peripheral line care. Additional responsibilities include medication administration, cardiac drips (non-titration), respiratory support with nasal cannula and oxygen, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions.
