PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,194.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Self-scheduling via Kronos

Clinical Responsibilities

• Care for adult and geriatric stroke, neurology, and general medicine overflow patients
• Perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Maintain central and peripheral line care, PICC lines, and tracheostomies
• Administer medications including cardiac drips (no titration): Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Provide respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Manage chest tubes and isolation precautions
• Respond to emergencies and support rapid response teams
• Float within skillset to another PCU or medical-surgical unit as needed

Patient Ratios and Staffing

• Typical patient ratio 1:5 with a staffing goal of 1:4
• Remote telemetry monitoring with tele sitting for additional coverage

Requirements

• Current RN license
• 1 year of nursing experience; travel experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams.
