ICU RN Job in Long Beach, CA

St Mary Medical Center Long Beach is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment in the Intensive Care Unit. You will provide direct patient care in a 32-bed ICU organized into pods of 8, with a patient ratio of 2:1.

Shift and Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Day schedule: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Night schedule: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays on a rotating basis with core staff

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret your own cardiac monitor strips (no monitor technicians available)
• Manage complex medication drips including pressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedation
• Provide ventilator management
• Float first to Telemetry and any ED ICU/Tele holds as needed
• Participate in huddle and bedside reports

Patient Population

Common diagnoses include neuro, cardiac, PCI, sepsis, ETOH, stroke, TBI, and Camino ICP monitoring.

Requirements and Orientation

• Minimum 3 years ICU experience preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Charting system: Cerner EMR
• Floor-specific orientation: Day 1 includes 8 hours with ICU educator and 4 hours with preceptor; Day 2 includes 12 hours with preceptor

Facility Guidelines

• Scrub color: Navy Blue for RNs
• No acrylic nails or gel polish allowed during assignment
