PCU Registered Nurse Job in Saint Louis, MO

Christian Hospital in Saint Louis, MO is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a night shift position offering 3x12-hour shifts per week with 36 guaranteed hours and a weekly pay of $2,260 for a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 2, 2026.

Position Overview

You will care for adult patients in a high-acuity step-down unit that functions as a transition from ICU. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 25 patients across 29 beds, with a patient ratio of 1:4 on nights. Every other weekend is required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation). No on-call is required, and you will float to lower-acuity floors as needed.

Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with current travel experience
• Bedside care within the last 6 months
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficient experience with vasopressor titration (Levophed, Nicardipine), sedation medications, insulin drips, arterial lines, cardiac arrhythmias, chest tubes, and tracheostomy/ventilated patient management
• Equipment competency with BiPAP, Optiflow, and arterial line management

Additional Required Skills

• Central line care and management
• Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Blood product and PICC line administration
• External pacemaker management
• ABG interpretation and heparin/IV insulin protocols
• High-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Wound care and wound vac use
• Ventilator alarm troubleshooting in collaboration with 1–2 assigned respiratory therapists per shift
• Rapid response and code team participation

Facility Details

You will wear navy scrubs and chart in Epic (experience preferred). The unit supports you with interdisciplinary services including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams. Free parking is available. Self-scheduling format is used with 24 orientation hours provided. Previous charge experience is preferred.
