About this role

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit at WVU Weirton Medical Center. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting August 19, 2026, with 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM). You will earn $2,229.12 per week.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6–8 on night shifts
  • Titrate medications including heparin, bumex, and lasix; cardiac drip titration is not required
  • Monitor telemetry alerts provided by the dedicated monitor technician on level 5; you are not expected to read or interpret strips independently
  • Work with patient care technicians who assist with vitals, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, heart monitor application, bathing, feeding, toileting, and turning
  • Coordinate with respiratory therapy for breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and respiratory equipment management
  • Chart using the EPIC system
  • May float to other Med-Surg, Med-Surg Telemetry, or IMC units for lower acuity patients

Schedule

  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call or standby requirements
  • May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
  • Rotating shifts typically include 2 weeks of days followed by 2 weeks of nights
  • Unit manager manages your schedule with consideration for requested time off; flexibility to fill staffing gaps is expected

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are accepted
  • Current RN license and BLS certification
  • BSN is not required
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius; unexpired driver's license required at submission
  • Any licensing hits must be disclosed at submission

Unit Details

Common diagnoses include pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness. Patient care techs are available at a ratio of approximately 1:10–12. Wear navy blue scrubs.
