PCU Registered Nurse Job in Overland Park, Kansas

Join BJC West – Saint Lukes South Hospital as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a float pool position where you'll work across approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU departments, gaining exposure to multiple clinical environments across metro campuses.

Schedule & Commitment

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours, nights
• 91-day assignment starting October 26, 2026
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Minimum 8 weekend shifts required every 6 weeks (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
• Holiday and Charge RN assignments as needed
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks; no on-call required
• Maximum 7 days requested time off

Requirements & Experience

• 1 to 2 years nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Missouri or Compact License required
• BLS and NIHSS certification required
• ACLS preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Home address minimum 75 miles from facility

Clinical Skills & Knowledge

• Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Telemetry on-unit monitoring
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Med/Surg and Telemetry experience
• Neuro stepdown nursing
• Preferred: sheath removal, feeding tube care, port access/management, blood product administration, central line care

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

You'll care for adults and geriatric patients with conditions including sepsis, wound care, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, renal failure, atrial fibrillation, GI bleed, and stroke.

Technology & Support

Epic charting system. Equipment includes virtual nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell. Interdisciplinary support available through IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy.

Compensation
