PCU Registered Nurse Job in Overland Park, KS

You will work as a Registered Nurse in a float pool position across progressive care and med-surg intermediate units at BJC West – Saint Lukes South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. Rather than a home unit, you will rotate between approximately 5 departments and other metro campuses as staffing needs require.

Shift and Schedule: You will work 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week for 112 days, beginning November 16, 2026. A minimum of 8 weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday combination) is required every six weeks. Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be assigned as needed. No on-call is required, and block scheduling is not available. You are guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks; any cancelled shifts will match your regular shift length.

Patient Care and Ratios: Your patient ratio will be 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends. You will care for adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including sepsis, wound care, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, renal failure, atrial fibrillation, gastrointestinal bleed, and stroke.

Required Skills and Certifications: You must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of nursing experience; first-time travelers are accepted. Current BLS and NIHSS certifications are required. You must hold a Missouri or Compact License at the time of application. Required clinical skills include cardiac telemetry, telemetry on-unit monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, med-surg/telemetry nursing, neuro stepdown, and pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience is preferred. ACLS certification is preferred. Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access and management, blood product administration, and central line care and management.

Work Environment: You will use Epic for charting and interact with equipment including 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.

Compensation and Requirements: Weekly pay is $2,277. Your home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility. Both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or a compact license covering both states) are required due to floating requirements across metro campuses.
