Telemetry RN Job in Kansas City, MO

Research Medical Center is seeking a full-time Telemetry RN for a 4-day/week travel position on a 29-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit. You will work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. shifts with a guaranteed 48 hours per week and a 1:4 patient ratio.

Clinical Requirements

• Current experience with Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU care
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret EKG and telemetry strips
• Experience with post-cardiac procedural care, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
• Competency administering and titrating IV medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
• Proficiency with procedures including IV insertion, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube care, temporary pacemaker management, and Foley insertion

Equipment & Systems

You will work with Alaris IV pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, Dinamap, Welch Allen vital machines, Wound Vacs, temporary pacemakers, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, Doppler units, and iMobile team communication systems. Documentation occurs through Meditech.

Unit Culture

The unit includes a Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs to support your care. You will be expected to work full-time hours, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period. Contract nurses may float to other areas where demonstrated competency exists.

Required Certifications

Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.

Patient Experience Commitment

You will treat every patient with courtesy and respect, remain responsive to call lights, use patients' preferred names, make personal connections at the bedside, involve patients in shift reports, and always ask if anything else is needed before leaving the room.

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required. You may wear black scrub pants with a navy blue top.
