PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover.

Schedule and Pay

• 3 shifts of 12 hours per week (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
• Guaranteed 48 hours per week with overtime after 48 hours worked
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• $2,479.32 weekly pay
• 91-day assignment starting October 26, 2026

Role Responsibilities

• Care for post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute CP/MI, and med/surg overflow patients
• Manage patients with detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and Fem Pop Bypass conditions
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4
• Administer medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro Drips
• Low census contract eligible for 36 hours of unbillable hours, typically in 4-hour increments

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU)
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
• At least one prior travel assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Must pass EKG test during first week of hire
• Any color scrubs permitted
