PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This 13-week travel assignment offers 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, three days per week, with 36 guaranteed hours weekly at $2,682 per week. You'll join a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with fast-paced patient care and typical 1:4 patient ratios.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in a high-turnover cardiac intermediate care setting
• Float to inpatient units as needed
• Manage patients post-op CABG/valve repair, thoracotomy, vascular procedures, arrhythmias, heart failure, post-cath procedures, pacemaker and defibrillator patients, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and medical/surgical overflow including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, and respiratory failure
• Administer and monitor cardiac medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and nitro drips
• Chart using EPIC system
• Participate in every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotations

Required Qualifications:

• Active Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• One year of strong cardiac experience in cardiac step-down unit, intermediate cardiac unit, or cardiac ICU
• Two years of experience in IMC, PCU, or telemetry
• One year of recent EPIC charting experience
• Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
• Ability to pass EKG test during first week of employment
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred)

Additional Information:

• Low census eligibility up to 36 hours unbillable, typically in 4-hour increments
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Assignment starts September 21, 2026
