PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will care for adult patients with neurological conditions, including those recovering from neurosurgery, managing stroke, and those with neuro-specific diagnoses. The unit also includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring and serves as a medical overflow area.

Schedule & Duration

• 3 twelve-hour day shifts per week (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
• 91-day contract
• Start date: October 19, 2026
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Compensation

• $2,094 weekly pay

Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central and peripheral line care
• Medication administration and cardiac drips (non-titrating)
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions
• Rapid Response and Code team participation
• Possible floating to units within your clinical skillset

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience
• Previous charge experience preferred
