Med Surg RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Medical Surgical RN on a 36-bed unit. This is a travel position offering 91 days of work, starting September 7, 2026. You will work three 12-hour day shifts weekly (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) at $2,070 per week.

Unit Overview

The medical surgical unit has 55 total employees and maintains a patient ratio of 1:6. Day shift staffing includes one clinical coordinator, six RNs, three techs, and one unit secretary. Night shift includes one clinical coordinator, six RNs, and two techs. You will collaborate with a well-structured team in a fast-paced environment.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to post-operative patients
• Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes
• Manage and maintain patient drains
• Monitor and operate Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and SCD equipment
• Document care using the Meditech EMR system

Requirements and Preferences

• Current BLS certification required
• Competency with dressing changes, wound care, and drain management essential
• Experience with post-operative patients preferred
• Strong patient advocacy skills and ability to function as a team player
• Adaptability in a fast-paced clinical setting

Dress Code

Scrubs must be navy blue or white. Hoodies, pull-overs, and t-shirts are not permitted.
