PCU RN Job in Lincoln, NE

CHI Health St Elizabeth is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 24-bed Progressive Care Unit, a designated stroke floor serving patients with complex medical conditions.

Role Overview

You will work 3x12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling flexibility and one additional shift required per 6-week period. Every 3rd weekend is expected, with holidays divided by weekend rotation. You must be able to arrive at the hospital within 1 hour if called in on standby.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Your patient ratio is 1:4–5 with virtual nursing support available on both day and night shifts. You will care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke/TIA, COPD, pulmonary embolism, and acute kidney injury. Competency in stroke patient care and strong teamwork are essential.

Clinical skills include:

• Titrating vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, and Dobutamine
• Reading cardiac monitor strips (telemetry on unit with monitor tech in ICU)
• Managing respiratory equipment including high-flow oxygen, BiPap, and oxygen titration

Unit Support

Nurse aides are available at a 1:8 ratio when fully staffed. A charge nurse and house supervisor are present on all shifts. You will receive 3 shifts of orientation on your assigned night shift and are expected to be the first float when floating is required.

Requirements and Environment

You must hold ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications, and NIHSS certification is required. The unit uses EPIC for charting. Dress code includes navy scrub tops and bottoms; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments.

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,353.
