RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Night shift position at a Level 2 Med Surg unit
• Provide general nursing care to assigned patients
• Perform complete physical assessments including head-to-toe assessments and tracking of intake and output (I&Os)
• Place, change, and monitor catheters and IV sites with proper documentation of date and time
• Communicate and collaborate with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other medical professionals regarding patient care
• Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care
• Educate patients and family members on procedures, treatments, medications, dosing, and common side effects
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques using Medication Dispense Machine
• Check medications for accuracy and monitor patients for adverse reactions following administration
• Report medication errors according to policy
• Read EKG monitor strips and demonstrate basic knowledge of 12-Lead EKG, reporting changes to medical providers as appropriate
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and paper medical records
• Document nursing care, procedures, medication administration, provider communications, and family interactions
• Assist with case management for Medicare and/or insurance documentation
• Track and maintain medical supply inventory alongside other staff members
• Safely move or lift patients as needed using machines, devices, or assistance from other staff
• Serve as a patient advocate in conjunction with the established plan of care
• ADN or BSN from an accredited school of nursing required
• Current, unrestricted Arizona RN license or Compact License required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
