PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

BJC West – Saint Lukes Hospital Plaza is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 5, 2026.

Position Details

• Shift: 3x12 nights
• Weekly pay: $2,266
• Patient ratio: 1:4 (occasional flex to 1:6)
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
• No on-call required

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Strong ventilator management experience
• Current BLS and NIHSS certification
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• First-time travelers welcome

Clinical Focus

You will care for patients with pulmonary stepdown, intermediate care, ventilated tracheostomy patients, COPD, and high-acuity respiratory conditions. Patient diagnoses include pulmonary valve placement, AirVO, BiPAP, and CPAP management.

• Ventilator and tracheostomy care and management
• BiPAP and CPAP management
• High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Central line and PICC line care and management
• Chest tube management
• Cardiac telemetry and drip titration
• Interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
• Endobronchial valve procedures
• Blood product and cardiac medication administration
• Hemodialysis pre- and post-care
• Port access and management
• IV insertion and maintenance

Unit Culture

Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required. Block scheduling is not available. This role is ideal for nurses seeking hands-on experience with complex respiratory and cardiac patients in a collaborative environment.
