About this role

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Telemetry unit in Winston Salem, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts, working 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. You will earn $1,903 per week.

Role Overview

You will care for orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients in a fast-paced environment. Your patient ratio will be 5–6:1, with flex up to 7:1 only in extreme cases. Float is required; you may be assigned to other med-surg units based on census. Block scheduling options are available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). Every other weekend is required, and missed weekend shifts must be made up on a weekend.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license (NC or Compact nursing license required)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with orthopedic work experience required
  • BLS and NIHSS certification required before start
  • EKG testing must be passed prior to start
  • Epic charting system experience (first-time travelers accepted if Epic-experienced)

Required Clinical Skills

  • IV start and peripheral line care/management
  • Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Central line care and management
  • Blood product administration and heparin protocols
  • PCA pump management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE compliance
  • Care of total joint replacement, hip trauma, and ortho trauma patients
  • Pre- and post-surgical neuro spine and neurosurgery patient management

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification
  • Charge nurse experience
  • Level I Trauma center experience

You must demonstrate strong customer service orientation and stay on top of pain management protocols for orthopedic and spine patients. The unit operates at a demanding pace, requiring nurses to work independently and collaboratively with the care team.
