Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday availability required
• Weekend night positions: Friday, Saturday, and Sundays OR Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays; weekday nights require every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule
• Travelers are expected to work into the holiday rotation
• Unit is a 20-bed Neuro floor (14 floor beds) with a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio for floor patients
• Nurse aides available on the unit at a ratio of 1:7-10 with 3 aides per shift
• Charge Nurse available 24/7
• Common diagnoses include Neurosciences, Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS), Stroke, Seizures, Surgical/PostOp Spines, and Neurological Disorders
• Strong overall Neuro experience required along with proficiency and frequent use of G-tubes
• Recent Epic experience required; Epic used for charting
• Telemetry available on unit; RNs are not required to read strips but must document verification of monitor tech strip readings in Epic
• Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin; titration is completed per physician orders
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; RNs are not required to have ventilator experience as floor vents are managed by RT and physicians
• Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as first priority, then to other hospital units as needed
• Up to 2 shift cancellations allowed per 13-week contract
• 1 orientation shift on the unit
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of white and royal blue
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
