RN - Med Surg Neuro

Job Details:

• Full-time night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekends and holidays required as needed
• Weekend night positions: Friday, Saturday, and Sundays OR Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays
• Weekday nights require every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule (Saturday and Sundays)
• Travelers are expected to work into the holiday rotation
• Unit is a 20-bed Neuro floor with a 1:5-6 patient ratio for floor patients
• Nurse aides available on unit with a ratio of 1:7-10
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of white and royal blue
• Telemetry is present on the unit; RNs are not required to read strips but must document verification of monitor tech strip readings in Epic
• RT available 24/7; RNs are not required to have vent experience as floor vents are managed by RT and physician
• Common diagnoses include neurosciences, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders
• Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Titration is performed by physician orders only; protocols will be provided during orientation
• Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as first priority, then to other hospital units as needed
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Charting system: Epic; recent Epic experience required
• Strong Neuro experience required with proficiency in G-tube management
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission)
• ACLS preferred
