ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• 2 out of 3 holidays required
• First to float - may float to Telemetry or ER (for holds, rare)
• Patient ratios of 1:2, or 1:1 for high acuity patients
• 32-bed ICU with all private rooms
• Charting system: Cerner - nurses with Cerner experience receive 2 days of floor orientation
• Self-scheduling acceptable on new schedules; added to current schedules as needed
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, LA City Fire & Safety, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: EKG basic dysrhythmia course, pharmacology, TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; 1 year of travel experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret own monitor strips using Nihon Kohden bedside monitors
• Experience managing critical drips including Cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, TPA, and all critical gtts required
• Ventilator management experience required
• Sheath pulling experience preferred
• Bedside report is an expectation
• Must be familiar with prophylactic bundle for stroke and cardiac patients, ABCDE bundle, and VAP bundle
• Common diagnoses include trauma, GSW, severe head trauma, stab wounds, CABG, IABP, CHF, GI bleed, DKA, stroke, long bone fractures, GI surgeries, and major transfusions
• Scrub color: Navy
• 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist in house
• 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available
