PCU RN Job in Rochester, NY

URMC Strong Memorial Hospital is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role in Rochester, NY. This is a 12-hour shift position with a 117-day contract starting September 28, 2026. You will earn $2,390 per week.

You will work a rotating day, evening, and night schedule including weekends and holidays, with flexibility between 36 or 48 hours per week based on unit needs. Your responsibilities include on-call and charge duties as required.

Your Role:

• Provide floor-level and high-acuity step-down care for patients requiring hemodynamic and neurological monitoring
• Care for a diverse patient population in a mixed-acuity neurosurgical unit
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams specializing in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular procedures, and epilepsy surgery
• Perform neurological assessments including Q1 neuro checks, manage EVDs, lumbar drains, and subdural drains
• Monitor patients on 3% NS, Cardene drips, and arterial lines
• Support patients recovering from procedures including carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling/clips, DBS insertion, VP shunts, and seizure management

Requirements:

• Current New York RN license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• PCU or step-down experience required
• High-acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification
