PCU RN Job in Rochester, NY

URMC Strong Memorial Hospital is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role in Rochester, NY. You will work on a mixed-acuity unit combining floor-level care with an 8-bed high-acuity step-down area, serving patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Rotating day, evening, and night schedule including weekends and holidays
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• On-call and charge responsibilities as needed

Clinical Focus

You will provide hemodynamic and neurological monitoring for a diverse patient population. The unit specializes in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular procedures, and epilepsy surgery. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and manage complex post-operative and critical care patients.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• PCU/stepdown experience required
• High acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Competency with neuro checks (Q1 intervals), EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, 3% NS, Cardene drips, and arterial lines
• Experience with carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling and clips, DBS insertion, VP shunts, and seizure management

Requirements

• Active New York RN license
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS certification
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association)

Compensation and Duration

Weekly pay is $2,400. The assignment is 89 weeks, with a start date of November 9, 2026. You will join a facility known for specialized neuroscience and neurosurgical care.
