PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on a 3x12 schedule with guaranteed 36 hours per week. This is a 10-week contract position starting September 28, 2026.

Role Overview

You will care for patients in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with fast-paced, high patient turnover. Your typical patient ratio will be 1:4. You may float to other inpatient units as needed. Patient populations include post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute CP/MI, and med/surg overflow including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and Fem Pop Bypass.

Schedule and Hours

Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required. The contract includes 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; you may be low censused in hour increments as needed, typically in 4-hour increments.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC) certification required
• 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU/Intermediate Cardiac/Cardiac ICU)
• 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro Drips
• At least one completed travel assignment
• 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
• Ability to pass EKG test during first week of hire
• Associate Degree or Certificate minimum; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,557
