About this role

BJC West – Saint Lukes North Hospital's Barry Road Campus is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 13-week travel position working the night shift.

Shift & Schedule

  • 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 across days, nights, and weekends
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
  • Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract; cancelled shifts match your regular assignment length
  • Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract
  • Block scheduling not available
  • Holiday and Charge RN assignments as needed
  • Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may occur

Compensation & Requirements

  • Weekly pay: $2,266
  • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
  • Start date: October 5, 2026

Qualifications

  • RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Previous charge and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Epic experience preferred

Core Clinical Skills

  • Cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, remote telemetry monitoring, rapid response team coordination
  • Post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery care
  • IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, hemodialysis pre/post management, renal failure management
  • Blood product and central line administration; phlebotomy; peripheral and PICC line management; IV starts
  • Heparin and cardiac drip protocols (titration and monitoring); PCA; procedural sedation
  • CVA management, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement care
  • Surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen delivery
  • Non-invasive airway and tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, wound care and wound vac

Patient Population

Adults and geriatric patients requiring progressive care monitoring and recovery support.

Support Services

Interdisciplinary teams available: IV services, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response, pharmacy, and unit secretarial support.
