PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts per week
• 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) per 6 weeks
• 13-week assignment duration
• Intermediate Care Unit - Surgical/Trauma (Unit 3B IMC)
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with a 22-bed unit
• Care for adult to geriatric patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, cardiac conditions, and trauma
• Manage patients on ventilators, with tracheostomies, high flow O2, BiPAP, and various cardiac drips
• Conditions include CHF, rule out MI, post MI, new onset/unstable angina, pericardial disease, cardiac drug toxicity, dysrhythmias, and pre/post therapeutic catheterization
• Unit also includes med/surg overflow
• Vent experience required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Active VA or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA)
• Cardiac telemetry background within the past year required
• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work setting experience required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Comprehensive respiratory proficiency required including high flow, tracheostomy, BiPAP, and ventilator experience
• Charge RN role willingness required (previous charge experience preferred)
• Required skills include: management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, use of rapid response teams, pre/post cardiac cath, central line care and management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, managing cardiac drips with and without titration, heparin protocols, traumatic brain injury care, care of ventilated patients, external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and EPIC
