PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wheeling, WV

Join WVU Wheeling Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. This 91-day travel assignment runs 3 shifts per week on nights, with a weekly pay of $2,380 and a 48-hour weekly guarantee.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM; arrive on unit by 6:45 PM
• Three shifts per week with self-scheduling allowed when unit needs are met
• Four requested days off per month
• Four weekend night shifts required per 4-week schedule

Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ratios: goal 1:4, typically 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently using Nihon Kohden monitors
• Titrate critical drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Manage radial bands and removal; sheath removal handled by other staff
• Groin checks and Tikosyn therapy management
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, and pre/post cardiac catheterizations

Support & Resources

• RT staff manage all respiratory equipment including AirVo high flow and Respironics BiPAP
• IV team available 24/7 for all starts, PICC, and Midline placement
• In-house pharmacy 24/7 via Pyxis
• RT, Hospitalist, and ICU Intensivist available on-site 24/7
• Charting via EPIC; EMR is Sunrise

Additional Requirements

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to float to Telemetry or Med-Surg units as needed, with ratios up to 1:6 or 1:7
• Navy blue scrub top, bottom, and jacket; no hoodies
• Valid driver's license copy required at submission; disclose any licensing hits upfront
• Strict attendance policy: two occurrences of tardiness or call-offs within the contract will result in termination; notify management 2+ hours before shift if emergency arises
• BSN not required
