PCU RN Job in Morgantown, WV

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at WVU JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 23, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM nights)
• Flexibility required around consecutive shift scheduling
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday rotation participation required
• 2 shifts may be cancelled per 13-week contract

Clinical Setting

You will care for patients in a 31-bed unit: 25 Stepdown beds and 6 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5–6 for EMU. A charge nurse is available 24/7, and nurse aides work at a 1:8–9 ratio with 4 aides per shift.

Patient Population and Experience Required

You will care for higher-acuity neuroscience patients including stroke patients, seizures, craniotomies, and EMU patients. Strong neurology experience is required, including a demonstrated history of caring for stroke patients and implementing the NIH Stroke Scale. Experience with external ventricular drains (EVDs) is preferred.

Clinical Support and Systems

• Telemetry is present on the unit; you are not required to read strips
• Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 to manage floor ventilators; you are not required to have ventilator experience
• Titration is performed by physician orders only
• Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• EPIC charting system experience is required

Requirements and Certifications

• Current RN license
• BLS certification (required)
• NIHSS certification (must be in hand at time of submission)
• ACLS certification (preferred)
• Royal blue scrubs required

Compensation

You will earn $2,842 per week.

Possible floating to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W may occur. You will receive 2 orientation shifts on the unit before assuming full duties.
