PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on the step-down unit
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation)
• No on-call required
• Float to lower acuity floors as needed
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Charting system: Epic (experience preferred)
• Scrub color: Navy
• Proficient experience required with titration of vasopressors (Levophed, Nicardipine, etc.), sedation medications, insulin drips, arterial lines, cardiac arrhythmias, chest tubes, and trach-vented patients
• Required equipment experience: BiPAP, Opti Flow, arterial lines
• Additional skills required include: central line care/management, PICC line management, cardiac telemetry, care of ventilated patients, chest tube management, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pacemaker management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required
• High acuity step-down unit serving as a step-down from ICU, treating adult patients
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
