PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work on a Progressive Surgical Unit (PSU) with a 4:1 patient ratio
• Day shift consists of 3 or 4 nurses (one charge with patient) and 1 PCT
• Night shift consists of 3 nurses and 1 PCT
• Work every other weekend with overtime available
• Unit has 12 beds and a total staff of 20
• Must be able to read cardiac monitor and administer narcotics
• Work with equipment including central lines, PCA, epidural, drains, foley, wound vac, and wound care
• Use Meditech EMR system
• Perform vital signs and assessments every 4 hours
• Perform rhythm interpretation every 4 hours
• Care for patients undergoing colon resections, whipple, liver and kidney surgeries, vascular, trauma, and other non-cardiac surgeries as well as medical overflow
• Administer cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin
• Stepdown experience preferred
• Post-surgery experience preferred
• Float to telemetry and med-surg units as needed
• Dress code: All navy scrubs
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
