Med Surg RN Job in Wheeling, WV

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the 30-bed Med Surg unit at WVU Wheeling Hospital. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 1, 2026, with three 12-hour day shifts per week at $2,224 weekly pay.

Your Role

You will care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, cellulitis, cholecystitis, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI. Patient ratios will be 1:6 to 1:7, and you must be comfortable managing up to seven patients. You will titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results and use intermittent BiPAP respiratory equipment as needed. The unit has telemetry monitored remotely by technicians, so you will not manage ventilators. A charge RN works on the floor with assignment, and PCTs are available to support patient care.

Scheduling & Unit Details

You will work 12-hour day shifts with weekends scheduled as needed, typically 1–2 weekends per contract period. Charting uses EPIC, and scheduling uses Qgenda. Wear navy blue scrubs. Travelers are first to float based on census needs. The cancellation policy allows two shift cancellations per 13-week contract.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• BLS certification (AHA)
• NIHSS certification
• Valid, unexpired driver's license at submission
• Reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Disclose any licensing hits at time of submission
• BSN is not required
