Med Surg RN Job in Garden City, KS

St. Catherine Hospital – Garden City is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit. You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week at $2,046 weekly, starting November 2, 2026.

Role Overview

You will care for patients with common diagnoses including congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure. Your nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 with nurse aide support at 1:5 ratio.

Key Responsibilities

• Titrate drips including analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Read your own telemetry strips (no tele/monitor techs on unit)
• Manage respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
• Document in EPIC charting system
• Maintain NIHSS experience

Scheduling and Requirements

Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available. Minimum of 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule. Holiday requirement and call or standby requirement apply as determined by nurse manager. Floating within Zone 4 may occur in cases of extreme need; charge nurse takes an assignment.

Credentials and Location

Required certifications: ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA). You must be within 60 miles of the facility and submit a valid driver's license. You must be in state for the week of orientation. Wear navy blue scrubs.
