Med Surg RN Job in Overland Park, Kansas

You'll work as an RN on the Surgical Specialty Unit (SSU) at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a guaranteed 48 hours per week on a 4x12 night shift (7 PM to 7 AM).

About the Role

You'll provide total patient care with a 4:1 patient ratio, or 5:1 when working alongside a patient care tech. The 20-bed unit typically runs with 4–5 nurses and 1 tech on shift, creating a high-paced environment where you'll apply solid med-surg and post-operative care experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage ostomy care, including irrigation and assessment
• Place and manage nasogastric tubes (NGT)
• Insert and maintain Foley catheters
• Monitor central lines and manage JP drains
• Perform wound care and dressing changes
• Initiate IV lines and administer blood products
• Support nutritional interventions, including TPN and G/J tube management

Equipment & Systems

You'll work with Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural infusion, Alaris PCA, Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine, telemetry monitoring, EKG machines, bladder scanners, wound vacs, capnostream devices, and SCD pumps. Documentation is handled through Meditech.

Scheduling

You'll work every 3rd weekend, plus two Mondays and two Fridays within each 4-week scheduling block. Float assignments may include medical/surgical, telemetry, ortho neuro center, 4N, and CDU units.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Med-surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification
• Understanding of post-operative care protocols

Compensation & Details

Weekly pay is $2,360. Your start date is December 14, 2026. Dress code is royal blue tops with black or royal blue bottoms.
