Med Surg RN Job in Overland Park, Kansas

You'll join the Surgical Specialty Unit (SSU) at Menorah Medical Center as an RN, working a 4x12 day shift (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) for 91 days starting December 14, 2026. This assignment offers 48 hours guaranteed per week at $2,360 weekly pay.

Unit Overview

The SSU contains 20 private beds with a typical team of 4–5 nurses and 1 tech per shift. Your patient ratios will be 4:1 for total patient care or 5:1 when supported by a patient care tech. You'll work in a high-paced environment and are expected to float to related medical, surgical, and telemetry units, including the ortho neuro center, med/tele, 4N, and CDU.

Schedule & Requirements

Every 3rd weekend is required, plus two Mondays and two Fridays per 4-week scheduling cycle. You must hold current BLS certification and have solid med-surg experience with an advanced understanding of post-operative care.

Clinical Responsibilities

You'll perform a range of procedures and skills:

• Ostomy management and irrigation
• NGT placement and management
• Foley catheter placement and maintenance
• Central line management
• JP drain care
• Wound management and wound vac operation
• IV starts and blood administration
• Nutritional supplementation, including TPN and G/J tube management

Equipment & Documentation

You'll work with Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural pumps, Alaris PCA, Pyxis Medication Dispensing Machine, telemetry, EKG, bladder scanner, capnostream machines, and SCD Pumps. All documentation is completed in Meditech.
