PCU Registered Nurse Job in Colorado Springs, CO

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is a 3x12 day shift position with self-scheduling and block scheduling options available.

Unit Overview

You will care for patients in a 36-bed Cardiac/Vascular Unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:4. Nurse aide support is available at a 1:12 ratio. The charge nurse carries no patient assignment. You will care for cardiac, respiratory compromise, and post-procedure recovery patients.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage non-invasive respiratory support including BiPAP, heated high flow, and CPAP
• Manage titratable drips per IMC unit policy, including cardiac, antihypertensive, metabolic, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia drips
• Perform chest tube management
• Verify rhythm strips on GE telemonitoring system with monitor tech support
• Document rhythm strips on paper; they do not interface with EPIC charting system

Scheduling and Requirements

Minimum of 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule. Holiday requirements apply. Call or standby requirements are determined by your nurse manager. Floating requirements are determined by your nurse manager; if needed, you may float within Zone 1. Navy blue scrubs are required.

The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks.

Required Credentials and Qualifications

You must hold a valid state RN license. ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications are required. A BSN is not required.

Assignment Details

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,140.
