Med Surg RN Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM), running from October 5, 2026.

Key Details

• Weekly pay: $1,932
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract period

Your Role

You will deliver comprehensive care to adult patients with complex medical conditions, including those with co-occurring behavioral health needs and substance use disorders. Your focus will be on assessment, stabilization, and integrated medical and behavioral health interventions. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside physicians, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists, emphasizing patient safety, recovery-oriented treatment, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers not accepted)
• EPIC charting experience
• Current BLS certification

Core Competencies

You will be proficient in Med/Surg care with experience using Rapid Response and Code teams. You must be skilled in peripheral line care and management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, oxygen tank handling, and isolation precautions. You may be required to serve as charge nurse and to precept other staff members. Floating within your skillset is required.
