Med Surg RN Job in Altoona, PA

West Central – UPMC Altoona is seeking an RN for our Med Surg unit. You will work 3 days per week on 12-hour rotating shifts, providing approximately 36 hours of nursing care each week. This is a 90-day travel assignment beginning October 12, 2026.

About the Role

You will deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families, using independent judgment and close collaboration with the care team. Your responsibilities include:

• Formulate daily goals and individualized plans of care using a holistic approach
• Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment
• Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual patient care needs
• Collaborate with physicians and other health care providers to achieve desired patient outcomes
• Provide detailed patient and family education to guide them through their episode of care
• Actively participate in department-specific quality improvement efforts
• Utilize research and evidence-based practice to support clinical care improvement
• Serve as a highly engaged partner on the care team, adapting to change with flexibility

What We Require

• Valid RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• BLS certification
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 certifications
• BSN preferred

Compensation

You will receive $2,439 per week. This assignment runs for 90 days at West Central – UPMC Altoona in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
