Med Surg RN Job in Altoona, PA

West Central - UPMC Altoona is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Med Surg unit. You will work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week on a rotating schedule, providing direct patient care and clinical leadership on the unit.

Your Responsibilities:

• Manage patient care activities for assigned patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members
• Formulate daily goals and plans of care that consider individual patient needs in a holistic manner
• Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment
• Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues relevant to patient care
• Participate actively in department and unit-specific quality improvement efforts
• Utilize research and evidence-based practice to support ongoing improvement in clinical care delivery
• Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through episodes of care and care transitions
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve desired patient outcomes

Required Qualifications:

• Current RN license (BSN preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 certifications

Assignment Details:

This is a 90-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026. You will receive weekly pay of $2,658.
