Med Surg RN Job in Altoona, PA

Join West Central – UPMC Altoona as a Med Surg RN on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. You'll work 3 days per week (36 estimated hours weekly) and earn $2,658 per week. This 89-day travel assignment begins November 9, 2026.

About the Role

You'll manage patient care activities for assigned patients and their families using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with the healthcare team. Your responsibilities include:

• Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment
• Formulate daily goals and a plan of care for patients, involving the patient as partner and considering individual needs holistically
• Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues for patient care
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve desired patient outcomes
• Actively participate in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts
• Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through the episode of care
• Utilize research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care

Qualifications

• Active RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 certifications required
• BSN preferred
