Med Surg RN Job in Altoona, PA

Join West Central – UPMC Altoona as a Med Surg RN. You will deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients and their families. This is a 3-day-per-week position with 12-hour rotating shifts, offering you flexibility and the opportunity to work as a full partner on a collaborative care team.

Your Role

• Provide direct patient care using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members
• Formulate daily goals and individualized plans of care for patients using a holistic approach
• Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment
• Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual patient care needs
• Collaborate with physicians and other health care providers to achieve desired patient outcomes
• Actively participate in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts
• Utilize research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care
• Provide detailed and appropriate patient and family education to guide them through their episode of care
• Serve as a highly engaged and full partner on the care team, adapting to change and demonstrating flexibility

Position Details

• Shift: 3 days per week, 12-hour rotating shifts (approximately 36 hours per week)
• Weekly pay: $2,521
• Assignment duration: 82 weeks
• Start date: September 1, 2026

Requirements

• RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Current BLS certification
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 compliance
• BSN preferred
