Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with options for 3x12 or 4x12 schedules (36 or 48 hour contract options)
• 36 hours guaranteed per week
• Every other weekend required
• Weekday shifts with float within scope to meet facility needs
• Manager may call traveler off once per 2-week pay period if necessary
• Provide nursing care to multi-system-injured trauma patients and surgical patients using a multidisciplinary team approach
• Unit consists of 25 floor beds, 6 step-down beds, and 6 pediatric beds (travelers not required to see pediatric patients)
• Patient ratios: Floor RN 1:5 / Stepdown 1:3
• Patients served include adults and geriatrics
• Ideal candidates have a background in PCU, IMC, Trauma, or SDU
• First-time travelers accepted if experienced in ICU or Trauma
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 1 year of in-specialty experience required
• Previous orthopedic/trauma experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Charting system: Cerner (preferred experience)
• Scrub color: Royal Blue/White (RN)
• Parking is free for travelers
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, Fit Test (all BLS and ACLS must be through AHA); TNCC preferred
• Required skills include: IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, Level 1 trauma experience, and conscious sedation
• Additional skills include: blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tubes, epidural analgesia, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, PICC line management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Special equipment used includes: chest tubes, wound vacs, tracheostomy, PEG/feeding tubes, arterial lines, and epidurals for multiple rib fractures
• Stepdown critical drips include: amiodarone, cardizem, precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, and nitro
• Interdisciplinary support available: IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Blocked schedule requests can be accommodated
• WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for submission
