PCU RN Job in Morgantown, WV

You'll work as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit at WVU JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. This is a night shift position running 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), with every other weekend required. The assignment is 91 days, starting September 10, 2026, at $2,488.32 weekly.

Unit Overview

The PCU operates as a flex unit serving both step-down and floor patients based on hospital and patient needs. You'll care for a diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for floor/med-surg patients. Clinical Associates (nurse aides) support the unit with a goal of maintaining 3 CAs at all times (1:10 ratio).

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, and opioid PCAs (morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl)
• Administer and manage TPN
• Work with CPAP, BiPAP, and HiFlow on floor and step-down; vents are present in step-down (patients requiring vent setting adjustments are transferred to ICU)
• Access remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring; RNs are not expected to read their own strips
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7 for support

Scheduling & Requirements

• No call or standby requirement
• Expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• First to float or be pulled to other floor/step-down units as needed
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment; 1 shift for assignments shorter than 13 weeks

Systems & Credentials

The unit uses Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment and EPIC for charting. You must have EPIC experience and current BLS (AHA) certification. BSN is not required. Scrub color requirement: any combination of royal blue and white.
