PCU RN Job in Wheeling, WV

Join WVU Wheeling Hospital as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit. This 91-day travel assignment runs 3x12 rotating shifts, with weekly pay of $2,341.

Shift Details:

• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Report to the unit by 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM
• Weekend coverage includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Night shift: 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule
• Day shift: 4 weekend day shifts per 4-week schedule with a minimum of 3 night shifts per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling permitted provided unit needs are met; up to 4 requested days off per month

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Patient ratios: goal 1:4, typically 1:5, occasionally 1:6
• Float to Telemetry or Med/Surg as needed with ratios up to 1:6, possibly 1:7 in Med/Surg
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently using Nihon Kohden monitors
• Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Manage patients with chest pain, rule out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, and pre/post-cath presentations
• Care for patients on Tikosyn therapy, radial bands, and perform groin checks

Systems and Requirements:

• Charting: EPIC; EMR: Sunrise; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Dress code: Navy blue top and bottom with navy scrub jacket; no hoodies
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Valid driver's license required at submission
• Attendance policy: Two occurrences of tardiness or call-offs result in termination
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at submission
