PCU RN Job in Bridgeport, WV

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool at WVU United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. This is a 119-day travel assignment beginning August 31, 2026, with 3x12-hour day shifts at $2,493 per week.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (days) or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)
• Weekend shifts on Saturday and Sunday, every-other-weekend basis
• Report to the clinical coordinator's office before your shift for unit assignment
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff

Float Pool Coverage

You'll rotate across six units: 6N (36 beds), 7N (29 beds), 4N (36 beds), 5S (36 beds), 6S (36 beds), and Critical Care (20 beds). Most assignments will be to a parent unit where you'll care for basic telemetry patients within your scope of practice.

Patient Acuity and Support

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: primarily 1:5–6 depending on acuity
• CNAs available on all units
• Charge nurse present every shift; day charge does not take patients, night charge does
• Monitor techs available on most units
• Respiratory therapy manages CPAP and BiPAP
• You will not titrate drips

Clinical Focus

Common patient diagnoses include CHF, cardiac catheterization, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic, and oncology. You must be able to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips on Phillips monitors.

Requirements and Certifications

• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam prior to placement
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Valid, unexpired driver's license required with submission
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
