PCU Registered Nurse Job in Weirton, WV

WVU Weirton Medical Center is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position. You will work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (with arrival by 6:45 AM and potential departure by 7:15 PM) on an every-other-weekend schedule. Holiday rotation participation may be requested.

Position Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Comfort with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
• Ability to read, interpret, and print telemetry strips
• Proficiency troubleshooting respiratory equipment
• Residence within a 50-mile radius of the facility

Core Responsibilities:

You will manage 4–6 patients depending on acuity level, titrating drips including cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax. Patient populations include cardiac cases, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, ETOH with CIWA protocols, and pacemaker patients. You will use the Cerner charting system and are expected to float to any inpatient unit as needed, with travelers being first to float.

Onboarding:

You will receive 2 days of general orientation plus 1 day with a preceptor. Navy blue scrubs are required.

Compensation:

Weekly pay is $2,341. The assignment duration is 91 days, starting September 7, 2026.
