RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with both day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) options available
• Every other weekend requirement
• May be expected to work holidays as scheduled
• Unit operates as a combined Stepdown and Floor unit (6N & 6C) with 31 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for floor nurses with plans to move to 1:4
• Nurse aides available on the unit at a ratio of 3-4 aides for 31 patients
• Charge nurse present on each shift with house supervisor in-house 24/7
• Common diagnoses include MedSurg, Cardiac, IDDM, COPD, Trauma, Ortho, ENT, Urology, and pain management
• High patient turnover expected - unit sees 10-12 patient turns per day
• Must be able to titrate Heparin drips on the floor
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips (tele techs available on unit)
• Respiratory therapy staff in-house 24/7; no vents on this unit
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• BSN not required
• Care setting: Acute
