Med Surg RN Job in Parkersburg, WV

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the 33-bed Med Surg Orthopedic/Neuro unit at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 23, 2026.

Shift Details

• 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Night shift weekends: Friday, Saturday, Sunday on an every-other-weekend rotation
• 30-minute lunch break included
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs

Unit Overview

All private rooms with a 1:6 patient ratio. Common patient populations include elective orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, back and neck neurosurgeries, and general Med Surg cases. CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen equipment are managed by respiratory therapy. Remote telemetry monitoring is available through the third floor; you are not required to read strips.

Clinical Support & Responsibilities

• Patient Care Techs handle vitals, fingerstick blood sugar checks, ADLs, and Foley discontinuation
• Charge nurse available 24/7 with full patient assignment
• You must have experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps
• IV fluids and PCA pumps utilized; no heparin or other drips required
• You are first to float and may be required to float to any Med Surg unit or Tele if assignments match your skillset

Requirements & Credentials

• Current RN license (BSN not required)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Unexpired driver's license must be provided

Dress Code & Orientation

Royal blue scrubs are required; if wearing a scrub jacket, it must also be royal blue. No hoodies or sweat jackets permitted. Orientation includes 1 day of Epic training and 1 day of floor orientation with a preceptor.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,229.12.
